DAW Systems Compatible File Types

Steinberg's Nuendo & Cubase Nuendo supports AIFF & WAV files, but does not read Acidization. Cubase SL/SX supports Acidized WAV files as well as REXX files, WAV is the recommended file type for these applications. For SL & SE WAV is the file type you will need. 16 & 24 bit sample rates are both supported by Nuendo & Cubase.

Cakewalk / Sonar 16 bit WAV is the recommended file type & sample rate for these applications as it is the default sample rate. They will support 24 bit & more recent cakewalk app's support Acidization.

Logic I recommend using AIFF or Acidized WAV files for this software package. Logic supports REXX 2 files, but they do sometimes cause problems with the software. I personally only recommend REXX 2 for Propellerheads applications.

Sony Soundforge / ACID The default sample rate of Sony DAW applications is 16 bit. So the recommendation for the user is 16 bit WAV. They do support 24 bit, & you are most welcome to use this bit rate. Though 16 bit is preferred.

Pro Tools If you are running a PC & using Pro Tools version 6 or below you can use either 16 or 24 bit WAV files (check that your soundcard supports 24bit) For MAC users, it is recommended that you use 24 bit WAV files.

Fruity Loops Again the default is 16 bit WAV, so this is the recommended file type. You can use 24 bit if you require.

Garage Band WAV or AIFF is supported here, but the application only outputs the audio signal in 16 bit, but it will read 24 bit. I suggest using 24 bit here if you are thinking of upgrading to a more advanced DAW system.

Adobe Audition (cool edit) The default sample rate is 16 bit WAV files. If your soundcard does supports 24 bit, you can use this bit rating. But i do recommend staying in the 16 bit format.

Albeton Live You can use either 16 or 24 bit WAV files with this application (check that your soundcard supports 24 bit).

Digital Performer The original file type for this Application is REXX, but if you are using version 3.1 & above then i suggest you go with WAV files. AIFF files are supported from version 4.5 onward.

Digital Audio Workstations The only file type that you can use is 16 bit WAV, unless your unit will support 24 bit.

Propellerheads Reason As Propellerheads are the creator of REXX files, this is the file type you will use.
